Design Dialogue: Intersections of Practice, People and Place is a comprehensive exploration of the complex relationship between design methodologies, human experience, and the environment. Published in 2026, this volume brings together diverse academic and practical perspectives to address the challenges of contemporary architecture and urban planning.
The book is organized into two primary thematic sections:
Part 1: Practice – This section examines the evolving methods of design, focusing on sustainability, energy efficiency, and inclusivity. Topics include innovative residential strategies, the adaptive reuse of "dead malls," biophilic office spaces, and energy-neutral housing. It also explores specialized areas such as autism-friendly design, hospital disaster management, and the intersection of game mechanics with user experience.
Part 2: People and Place – This section shifts the focus to the cultural, historical, and social contexts that shape our built environment. Chapters investigate the legacy of ancient Indian town planning, the psychological impact of sacred spaces, community-driven heritage conservation, and the role of public art in creating inclusive urban environments. It also addresses modern socio-economic challenges, such as informal housing, co-living solutions for young migrants, and the environmental sustainability of smart cities like Chandigarh
